About BACKYARD SPORTS. Founded in 2005, Backyard Sports is a unique, community team sports program based in Westchester County, New York. Discover the wonders of nature and play to experience the fascinating science that’s in your backyard. Backyard Adventures now open at the Witte Museum through May 3, 2020.
Backyard Adventures showcases interactive science displays such as Night Vision, Bee’s Eye View, Giant Pumpkin Bonanza, Critter Calls, Backyard Sports, Garden Golf and an Augmented Reality Garden Bed. Engaging visitors with science and technology, this exhibit enables visitors to continue discovering the wonders of our own backyards long after leaving the exhibition.
Discover the outdoors from the perspective of a bee, take a walk through a digital garden to see plants grow in super time and investigate creatures that only come out at night. Backyard Adventures, created by Scitech and produced by Imagine Exhibitions, emphasizes the importance of staying healthy and active by showing visitors how much fun awaits outdoors and demonstrating that there is much more to our backyard than we imagine.
Learn and experience that the backyard is full of science from the biological interactions between plants and insects, the zoology of nocturnal animals, the horticultural know- how that goes into growing giant vegetables, the mathematical genius needed to lay pavers to the feats of construction that can go on in the shed.

Backyard Sports offers an innovative concept in soccer training for boys and girls in 3rd-9th grade. The program combines high level skill instruction with an emphasis on fun and the appropriate life lessons that competitive team sports offer.
Sports Conventions 2020
Sessions will include progressive skill instruction and modified game play. Emphasis will be placed on ball control, movement and an understanding of the rules of the game. Topics include:
- Competitive league play and skill sessions
- Teams coached by Backyard Sports staff. No outside or parent coaches
- Games played Sundays at Purchase College
Our curriculum is uniquely designed to not only teach the tactical aspects of soccer, but allows our players to gain confidence and develop appropriate winning attitudes. Most importantly, our sessions will nurture a love of game which will keep the player involved in the sport for years to come.
Players will receive instruction from teacher coaches and local varsity athletes that are 100% committed to the development of the young athlete. They are uniquely trained to identify and reinforce teachable moments in sport that are often overlooked. Each member of our staff brings passionate energy and wants to be a role model to your son or daughter.
